300 DPI is the usual print and form setting. The DPI is also written into the file.

Passport Size Photo for free, privately

A passport size photo is mostly a question of the right crop: the right shape and size, with the face filling most of the frame. Choose a size, add a photo taken against a plain light background, and the tool crops it from the centre and saves it at 300 DPI. If your application portal sets a file-size limit, type it and the photo is compressed to fit.

Official photo rules (background colour, head size, glasses, expression) are set by each country and service, so check them before you upload. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the passport size photo size in cm?

The most common size is 3.5 × 4.5 cm (35 × 45 mm), used in the UK, the Schengen area, Australia and on most application forms. The United States uses 2 × 2 inch (5.1 × 5.1 cm), Canada 5 × 7 cm and Chinese visas 3.3 × 4.8 cm. Always check the size your form or embassy states.

How many pixels is a passport size photo?

At 300 DPI, 3.5 × 4.5 cm is 413 × 531 pixels and 2 × 2 inch is 600 × 600 pixels. Some online forms ask for a different pixel size; use Custom size or the Image Resizer for that.

How do I make a passport photo under 50 KB?

Choose the size, type 50 in Maximum file size and press Make passport photo. The photo is cropped to the size and compressed until it fits.

How do I keep my face centred?

The crop is taken from the centre of the photo, so take the picture with your face in the middle. If needed, crop roughly first in any photo app, then make the passport photo here.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything runs in this page on your own device.
