Change Image DPI for free, privately
DPI (dots per inch) is a number stored in the image file that tells printers and some software how large to print it. It does not change the pixels: a 1200 × 1800 photo is 1200 × 1800 at any DPI, and prints 10 × 15 cm at 300 DPI or about 42 × 63 cm at 72 DPI. Some forms check this number, so this tool writes the DPI you choose into the JPG or PNG.
JPGs are re-saved at quality 95, which looks identical; PNGs stay lossless. Everything runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.
How it works
- Add one or more JPG or PNG images.
- Choose the new DPI.
- Press Change DPI.
- Download the images or a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Does changing DPI change the image quality?
No. DPI is only a setting in the file. The pixels stay the same; JPGs are re-saved at quality 95, which looks identical.
How do I make a photo 300 DPI?
Add it, keep 300 selected and press Change DPI. To also give it an exact printed size, such as 3.5 × 4.5 cm, use Resize Image in cm, which sets both.
Which formats work?
JPG and PNG keep their format. WebP and other formats are saved as JPG, because WebP has no standard DPI field.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs in this page on your own device.
