About Add page numbers to a PDF
Number the pages of a report, thesis, contract or manual before you print or share it, so readers can find their way and refer to a page.
Choose where the number goes (bottom or top, left, centre or right), the format, such as 1, Page 1 or Page 1 of 10, in any language, the first number, the size and colour, and whether to skip the cover page. Everything runs in your browser, so your PDFs are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose or drop one or more PDFs.
- Pick the position and type the format, using {n} for the number.
- Optionally set the first number, the size, the colour, and the pages to number.
- Press Add page numbers and download the result.
Good to know
- {total} in the format is replaced by the last page number, for "Page 3 of 12".
- Do not number the first page leaves a cover page clean; numbering then starts on page 2.
- Numbers made only of digits and Latin letters are real text in the PDF; labels in other scripts are drawn as small images so they look right.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
