About Unlock PDF
Bank statements, payslips, bills and official documents often arrive as PDFs locked with a password, so you have to type it every time you open them, or they cannot be printed or copied from. This tool saves a copy without the lock.
If the PDF opens with a password, type it once and the unlocked copy opens without one from then on. If the PDF opens freely but blocks printing, copying or editing, no password is needed: the restrictions are simply removed. It runs in your browser with qpdf, a well-known open-source PDF engine, so your files and passwords are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose or drop one or more locked PDFs.
- If the PDF asks for a password when you open it, type that password. Otherwise leave the box empty.
- Press Unlock PDF.
- Download the unlocked PDF, or a ZIP for several files.
Good to know
- This tool does not guess or crack passwords. You need the password the sender gave you, for example the one described on your statement.
- Only unlock PDFs that are yours or that you have the right to open and use.
- The pages, text, links and quality stay exactly as they were. Only the lock is removed.
- To lock a PDF yourself, use Protect PDF.
Questions
How do I remove a password from a PDF?
Add the PDF, type the password you use to open it, and press Unlock PDF. The copy you download opens without a password.
Can I unlock a PDF without the password?
Yes, if the PDF opens without a password and only blocks printing, copying or editing: those restrictions are removed without one. If the PDF needs a password just to open, you must know it; this tool does not crack passwords.
Does unlocking change the PDF?
No. The content stays the same; only the encryption and the restrictions are removed.
Is it safe to type my password here?
Yes. Everything happens in this page on your own device, so neither the PDF nor the password is sent anywhere.
