About Add a watermark to a PDF
Mark a PDF as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, COPY or SAMPLE, or put your name or company logo across every page before you share it. A watermark shows who a document belongs to and discourages people from passing it on as their own.
Type the text in any language, including Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese or Thai, or use an image such as your logo. Choose the size, how see-through it is, the angle, and whether it sits in the centre, at the top or bottom, or repeats over the whole page. Everything runs in your browser, so your PDFs are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose or drop one or more PDFs.
- Pick Text and type it, or pick Image or logo and choose the picture.
- Set the size, opacity, angle and position, and optionally which pages.
- Press Add watermark and download the result.
Good to know
- The watermark is placed on top of the page content. Light opacity keeps the text underneath readable.
- A PNG logo with a transparent background looks cleanest; JPG logos keep their white box.
- Repeat over the page makes the watermark hard to crop out of a screenshot.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
Questions
How do I add a watermark to a PDF?
Add the PDF, type the watermark text or choose a logo, pick the size and position, and press Add watermark. The new PDF downloads with the watermark on the pages you chose.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Type the page numbers in Pages, for example 1 or 2-5, 8. Leave it empty to mark every page.
Can I use my logo as a watermark?
Yes. Choose Image or logo and pick a PNG or JPG file. A transparent PNG looks best.
Can the watermark be removed?
It is drawn onto the pages, so it cannot simply be switched off in a normal PDF reader. Someone with PDF editing software could still try to remove it, so for real secrecy also use Protect PDF.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The watermark is added in this page on your own device.
