About JPG to Word
Turn a photo of a page, a scanned letter, a screenshot or a picture of a notice into a Word document you can edit, instead of typing it again. The text in the image is read with OCR (optical character recognition) and saved as a .docx file.
Choose the language of the text; images that mix a local language with English are read in both. Add several images and they become one document, in the order you added them. The recognition runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose, drop or paste one or more images (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Select the language of the text.
- Press Convert to Word and wait a few seconds per image.
- The Word file downloads; the text is also shown on the page to copy.
Good to know
- The Word file contains the text, line by line. Pictures, colours and table borders in the image are not copied.
- Clear, straight, well-lit photos of printed text give the best result. Handwriting is not read reliably.
- For text only, without Word, use Image to Text.
- For a scanned PDF, use PDF to Word with OCR switched on.
Questions
How do I convert a JPG to an editable Word document?
Add the image, choose the language of the text and press Convert to Word. A .docx file with the text downloads, ready to edit in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Does it keep the layout?
It keeps the words and line breaks, not the exact layout, pictures or table borders. That makes the text easy to edit and reuse.
Which languages can it read?
More than 25, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Turkish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Text recognition and the Word file are made in this page on your own device.
